Leo Johnson is a Past Chairman of the Board of the Fire and Police Pension Association of Colorado (FPPA): a member of the Board since June 2000. He represents Colorado Special Districts on the FPPA Board. FPPA Board members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate for four year terms. Leo is Past Chairman of West Metro Fire and Rescue Board of Directors(15 years of service on the Board terminated due to term limits), and has been appointed to serve on the Fire District's Civil Service Committee. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Colorado Special Districts' Property and Liability Insurance Pool and Secretary/Treasurer of the Southwest Surburban Denver Water and Sanitation District He also serves on several other Boards of Directors and Foundations. Leo retired from the Air Force with 24 years of service. His duties included flight in a variety of aircraft, Minuteman Missile Crew, Staff/Instructor at the United States Air Force Academy, Vietnam, and involvement in the nations Space Program as Director of Operations for Satellite Command and Control and Director of Space and Missile Warning Operations for NORAD. A second career with Lockheed Martin continued his active involvement with the Nation’s Space Programs, culminating with the launch of the Cassini mission to Saturn.
