Preschools located within our district may schedule a presentation once a year at their location. The
“Tools Not Toys” presentation is delivered by a firefighter, followed by a bunker gear demonstration. Students learn the difference between toys for kids and tools for adults. The presenter leads children in a “role play” exercise to practice what to do if they find dangerous tools. Each student receives a classroom activity sheet, a take-home parent letter and a firefighter sticker badge. We schedule 30 minutes per classroom and meet with one class at a time. Combining classes is strongly discouraged, as the presentation is interactive and works best with groups of 10-20 students per class.

The West Metro Fire Rescue
Classroom Kids Club is a great program for preschool classrooms. Teachers who opt in will receive a monthly safety activity for their students via email. You can pick and choose the months you would like to participate. Teachers who complete a brief online survey following the activity will be automatically entered into a monthly drawing for a store gift card. The gift card may be used for classroom supplies. To opt in, simply email
Susan Saito with your name, grade and school name.
