West Metro Fire Rescue Station 2 is located one block north of Colfax and two blocks east of Simms on Robb Street. It was built in 1992 with a brick exterior and a tile roof, and includes three apparatus bays. It has seven bedrooms, two bathrooms and a comfortable living area that allows for the crew of five or six to co-exist for 48 hours at a time.

Bonds in 2006 funded much-needed remodels to the front office, officer’s quarters, EMS supply storage, and exercise / fitness areas.

Response Area
Company 2 responds to the west Colfax corridor from Garrison Street on the east, to Denver West Boulevard on the west between Second Ave and 26th Ave. The area is diverse with retail shopping centers, light industry, low income homes, single-family / multi-family housing, and highways. Neighborhoods in Station 2’s response area include Quailridge, Applewood Glen, and Idlewild.

Station 2 is the first due station for Caridian BCT Labs, a large manufacturing facility of medical equipment and a long portion of the West loop of the RTD Fast Tracks light rail system. There are five elementary schools in Station 2’s response area. Squrt 2 is West Metro’s fourth busiest engine responding to 2,587 calls in 2009. Medic 2 is the third busiest ambulance with 2,432 calls in 2009.
