West Metro Fire Rescue Station 12 is located north of Bowles Avenue at the southeast corner of Kipling and Alamo Place. Station 12 sits at one of the primary entrances to the Governor’s Ranch Community and the Grant Ranch Development. It also provides service to the communities surrounding Southwest Plaza Mall.
Station 12’s primary response area is:
- Quincy Avenue to the north
- Coal Mine Avenue to the south
- Wadsworth Boulevard to the east
- Between Simms and Alkire to the west
In 2009, Tower 12 was reassigned to Tower 14 and the Squrt was reassigned to Station 12. Station 12 now houses Engine 12, a 2009 Pierce Quantum, and Medic 12, a 2010 Lifeline Ambulance with a GMC 4500 Cab. In 2009, Engine 12 responded to 1,984 calls while Medic 12 responded to 1,832 calls for help. The response area includes a large commercial population along the Wadsworth and Kipling corridors, including Southwest Plaza Mall, Target, Lowes, Best Buy, American Furniture, and many other large big-box stores.
Station 12’s response area used to be quite large until West Metro conducted some dynamic planning to relocate Station 10. The result is a much improved response time and better service for the areas that lie in Station 12’s former north end.
