West Metro Fire Protection District is a full-service, all-hazard, fire and rescue agency. West Metro Fire Rescue (WMFR) was created in 1995 after the community voted to consolidate the Lakewood Fire Department and Bancroft Fire Protection District.

Staff
West Metro Fire Rescue has 323 full-time firefighters who staff 15 stations and 55 civilian staff members. West Metro Fire's district covers more than 110 square miles. West Metro Firefighters work a 48/96 schedule (two consecutive 24-hour shifts, followed by 96 hours off).

Board of Directors that oversees the budget and establish policy.
