Fire Rescue Agency
West Metro Fire Protection District is a full-service, all-hazard, fire and rescue agency. West Metro Fire Rescue (WMFR) was created in 1995 after the community voted to consolidate the Lakewood Fire Department and Bancroft Fire Protection District.

Service Areas
West Metro Fire Rescue is a special district government agency providing fire and rescue services to 247,648 people. We serve the following areas:

• City of Lakewood 
• Town of Morrison 
• Parts of the cities of Golden and Wheat Ridge
• Parts of unincorporated Littleton and Jefferson County
• Roxborough communities and Waterton Canyon (Douglas County)  

Staff
West Metro Fire Rescue has 323 full-time firefighters who staff 15 stations and 55 civilian staff members. West Metro Fire's district covers more than 110 square miles. West Metro Firefighters work a 48/96 schedule (two consecutive 24-hour shifts, followed by 96 hours off).

Board of Directors
West Metro Fire Rescue is governed by a public-elected seven member Board of Directors that oversees the budget and establish policy.
