West Metro Fire Rescue Station 5 is located on the corner of Eldridge Street and 20th Avenue in a residential housing area called Applewood.
Remodeling the Station
The station is currently being rebuilt from the previous ranch-style house whose appearance was designed to fit into the neighborhood. The new station features a modified single-level building with a low profile bay area and hose tower designed to continue that architectural fit into the neighborhood. The bays also are slanted to the street to provide for adequate depth to house today’s larger fire apparatus.
The primary response area for Station 5 is bordered by:
- Clear Creek on the north
- Colfax Avenue on the south
- Union Street on the east
- Quaker Street on the west
Station 5’s response area is enjoying a new development that includes an expansion of the National Renewable Energy Campus in Golden. It includes portions of the Coors Facility, the Denver West Complex, and the newly rebuilt Rolling Hills Country Club. Station 5’s response area also contains a large wildland-urban interface.
