EMS Billing Supervisor
West Metro Fire Protection District is seeking people interested in a full-time career position as EMS Billing Supervisor in our EMS Billing Division. West Metro will hire for the position as soon as the right applicant is found.
This position is responsible for a wide variety of EMS billing functions including but not limited to; supervising EMS billing staff, month end close and reconciliation of patient receivables, and managing the aging of collections. This position will ensure that the District maintains an appropriate net collections rate and remains current with all insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare billing practices. The EMS Billing Supervisor is responsible for Medicaid/Medicare compliance and for maintaining appropriate policies and procedures in the EMS billing function. This position must be able to serve as backup for various positions within this department. The position reports to the Finance Director.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED certification with additional education in medical coding, medical billing, and bookkeeping. Certified Ambulance Coder or similar certification is preferred. Supervision experience in medical billing required. Drug screen, polygraph and background investigation required. Annual starting salary for an Apprentice Fire Medic as of 1/10/2010 is $42,968
Annual starting salary for a Firefighter/Paramedic as of 1/10/2010 is $72,105
Annual starting salary for a Firefighter as of 1/10/2010 is $66,105.
Are all West Metro Firefighters required to be Paramedics?
The Department now has a “Career Track”, which you will be able to choose either the Emergency Medical Career Track or the Fire Science Degree Career Track. West Metro reserves the right to require all members to obtain Paramedic certification based on Department need. In addition to completion of on-the-job training hours and satisfactory monthly evaluations, new Firefighters must obtain CMCB FF I and II by the end of their 11th month.
How long does the hiring list last?
The hiring list is certified and good for two (2) years.
How many openings are there?
West Metro hires on an as needed basis.
Are there any advantages for Veterans?
1. For Veterans who qualify, West Metro awards ‘Preference Points’ to the point total in the testing process.
2. Veterans eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill Funds can qualify under West Metro’s Apprenticeship Program.
Are there any advantages in the testing process for experienced paramedics?
1. In the testing process, candidates may opt to take an additional Paramedic-Oral Board. A maximum of five (5) points can be added or removed from the final score. The Paramedic Oral Board is Optional.
2. Once you complete the academy you will receive Paramedic pay in your bi-weekly paycheck.
3. There is potential for advancement in pay for current paramedicine.
Does West Metro hire laterally?
There are no opportunities at this time for lateral movements.
