West Metro Fire Rescue presents the Home Safety Boot Camp for Home Child Care Providers, a four-hour crash course designed to decrease the risks of home fires and unintentional injuries affecting young children. The Boot Camp will be held at West Metro Fire Rescue's Headquarters in Lakewood - 433 South Allison Parkway.
Boot Camp training is limited to the first 60 recruits... get your draft card today!
8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Fire Safety and Motor Vehicle Safety:
• How to teach fire safety to children with the “Tools Not Toys” lesson
• When and how to properly use a fire extinguisher – includes hands-on practice
• How to develop and practice evacuation plans in your home
• How to safely transport children – CO law; how to select and secure child restraints in your vehicle
12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.: Injury Prevention and Emergency Preparedness:
• Fall Prevention
• Poison Prevention
• Airway Obstructions (strangulation, suffocation, choking)
• Water Safety
• Child-proofing your home
• How to respond to injury emergencies involving young children
Registration Fee: $40 per session (non-refundable)
