Bruk Mulaw

Position: Finance Director

Finance Director Bruk Mulaw has over 20 years of experience in government and nonprofit accounting and finance. He joined West Metro Fire Protection District in 2014 as a Senior Accountant and served in that role for seven years before his promotion to Finance Director in 2021. Mr. Mulaw and his finance team have won several GFOA awards for implementing best practices in government finance.  

Prior to his time with the District, Mr. Mulaw worked as a Staff Accountant at the Denver District Attorney’s Office for over two years. In addition to his extended career in the public sector, Mr. Mulaw has several years of international experience, having worked as a finance officer and a consultant with multiple humanitarian and developmental organizations.  

Mr. Mulaw holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and an active member of several organizations, including the AICPA, COCPA, GFOA, and CGFOA. He also serves as a volunteer member of the Colorado CSAFE Board of Trustees, contributing to one of the state’s leading Local Government Investment Pools.
