Reaching Out to the Community

As West Metro Fire Rescue looks toward the future of emergency response, we believe an important part of planning is listening to the community we serve.

To better understand community priorities and expectations, West Metro brought together a Community Action Group (CAG) made up of sixteen residents from across the district. The CAG met several times between February and April 2026. The group was given an inside look at the challenges facing emergency services, including increasing calls for service, rising costs, changing community needs, and the long-term resources required to maintain emergency response. Their mission was to  evaluate the sustainability of the district’s revenue sources, decide whether additional funding is needed, and identify viable options for sustainable funding.

A meeting is taking place in a classroom setting, focusing on community advisory topics with a presenter and attendees engaged.

Throughout the process, members learned about West Metro’s operations, finances, staffing, equipment, and the changing demands placed on firefighters and paramedics. They had the opportunity to ask questions, review information, share perspectives, and provide feedback about the future of emergency services in our community.

The goal was simple: bring community voices into the conversation.

Input from the Community Action Group helps West Metro better understand what residents value, what questions they have, and what priorities should be considered as the district plans for the future.

We appreciate the time, commitment, and thoughtful feedback from the community members who participated in this important process.
