West Metro Community Fire Academy

Ever Wonder What it Takes to Answer the Call?

West Metro Fire Rescue’s 2026 Community Fire Academy gives community members a behind-the-scenes look at how our agency serves the public every day. Participants will gain an inside perspective on emergency response operations, department organization, and the critical decision-making that supports our fire, rescue, EMS, and risk reduction services.

Throughout the academy, attendees will take part in interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities, and station tours designed to provide a first-hand understanding of the training, equipment, teamwork, and coordination required to manage complex emergencies. Participants will also receive hands-on emergency medical training and finish the academy with a live drill-ground firefighting experience that showcases the skill, communication, and challenges firefighters face on the fireground.

Firefighters respond to a large fire at "Carniceria Los Tapatios" with flames visible and fire hoses in use.
